Muscat and Oman—Engineered Land
Muscat and Oman—Engineered Land

In Oman, overlooking the mouth of the Persian Gulf, urbanisation processes are characterised by a vast appropriation of land and desert. As a country with a long history of global trade, the rapid development in Oman transforms historic settlements, which were structured around the presence of water. The contemporary urbanisation, based on oil wealth, raises questions of aggressive resource expolitation and sustainability.
