The MetroBasel Comic is based on a series of urban planning studies and projects for Basel and its tri-national region that were created at the ETH Studio Basel. The aim of the publication is to examine and portray the core city and the surrounding Swiss, German and French areas, to investigate their urban potentials, and to sketch future visions.
The comic is divided into eight thematic chapters, narrated by two protagonists (Patricia and Michel, or Jean Seberg and Jean-Paul Belmondo from the film A Bout de Souffle), who describe how people live, work, learn, move and have fun in the city and the region. This urbanistic investigation includes a presentation and assessment of the current situation, it outlines possibilities, visions and designs for how the region could change and how new places could emerge, and it explores architectural and urban potentials.
The MetroBasel Comic is a non-profit publication distributed in Basel and its tri-national region.
